IKEA has launched tests for do-it-yourself delivery solutions in Utrecht, Westbahnhof Vienna, and Gallerian Stockholm beginning April 1, 2025. The initiative includes rentable equipment such as a trolley for walking or public transport, an electric four-wheel bike with storage, a cargo bike, and an electric trailer. The goal is to support customers without cars by offering affordable ways to transport items like BILLY bookcases and MALM dressers independently, according to IKEA Retail (Ingka Group).

In parallel, IKEA has expanded its modular locker program to external locations. As of now, four lockers are operational in UK grocery store parking lots, with six more expected. Two lockers are active in Belgium and one in the Netherlands. The service, which began testing in November 2024, enables 24/7 order pickup closer to customers' homes or workplaces. It recently earned the Omnichannel Retailer Initiative of the Year award at the 2024 Retail Tech Innovation Hub Awards, IKEA stated.
